Katie Simpson
Speaker, Pet Food Specialist, Office of Indiana State Chemist

Katie is the Pet Food Specialist with the Office of Indiana State Chemist.  In this role, she regulates pet food through labeling reviews and compliance.  This includes homemade pet treats and raw milk.  She is a member of the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) and serves on the Pet Food and Ingredient Definitions Committees, along with many workgroups within these committees.  

Katie received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Agribusiness from Purdue University in 2002.  After obtaining her degree, she worked on a swine feed research farm as a Nursery Research Specialist.  She then came back to Purdue and worked in animal husbandry with the many species of teaching and research animals in the College of Veterinary Medicine.  While in this role, she obtained certifications for Laboratory Animal Technician through the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science.
