Nearly 20 years ago, Michael transformed a career in corporate business (with a finance/accounting degree from Indiana University Kelley School of Business) into a farming/homesteading path more aligned with his interests of self-sufficient living, earth stewardship, and teaching others. Over the past years, Michael has taught more than 200 students and staff members at Living Roots Farm and Organic Farm School farming and homesteading topics such as market produce farming, pastured animal farming and intensive grazing, season extension, health and bodywork including massage therapy and yoga, herbal medicine and wild plants, natural building, and food fermentation and preservation.
Currently, Living Roots Farm grows around 100,000 lbs of produce each year on 5 acres and produces more than 20,000 lbs of Pastured Meats on the rest of the 75 acre farm. Michael lives with his son in an off-the-grid earthship inspired home that he built over the past years and will be continuing to expand over the coming seasons.
